
Mr. Noorul Choudhury
Head of Secondary
Noorul is an accomplished education leader with extensive experience in both British and International Baccalaureate (IB) education. As the Head of Secondary at GEMS WSR since October 2024, he is dedicated to academic excellence, student well-being and innovative teaching practices.
A science teacher by profession, specializing in chemistry, Noorul holds an MBA in Educational Leadership (Distinction) from the prestigious Swiss Montreux Business School and has completed the OTHM Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management & Leadership. Additionally, he has undertaken professional leadership training, including the NPQH and is a Council of International Schools (CIS) Evaluator as well as a Tribal Group International School Inspector.
With over 20 years of experience in education, Noorul has held senior leadership roles in both the UK and the Netherlands. Before joining GEMS WSR, he served as Deputy Principal at the Amsterdam International Community School for three years, where he oversaw two large campuses and led strategic improvements. Prior to that, he was the Head of School at one of the campuses, where he expanded the student body from 100 to over 600 students in under two years. His expertise in curriculum development, data-driven school improvement and teacher development positions him as a key leader in educational excellence.
Noorul is particularly passionate about IB education, valuing its emphasis on holistic learning, critical thinking and global perspectives. His experience in both the British and IB curricula brings significant benefits to WSR’s students, combining the structured academic rigor of the British system with the inquiry-based, internationally minded approach of the IB to create a well-rounded, future-ready education.
As a thought leader in education, Noorul actively engages in educational research, curriculum innovation and professional development. He advocates for evidence-based teaching strategies, effective leadership models and the integration of technology to enhance learning outcomes and prepare students for the challenges of a rapidly evolving world.
Outside of work, Noorul has a diverse range of interests and hobbies, including rowing photography and the arts. A keen traveler, he enjoys exploring different cultures and integrating global perspectives into his educational leadership.
